2025 Manitoba Wildfires Fire Equipment and Training Fund
Opens 31 Mar 2026 15:00 (EDT)
Deadline 8 Jul 2026 00:59 (EDT)
Description

Municipalities, Indigenous governments, and their respective fire departments, play an important role during emergencies and subsequent recovery from disaster events. The 2025 Manitoba Wildfires Fire Equipment and Training Fund aims to mobilize financial resources to communities that were impacted by or responded to the 2025 Manitoba wildfires. These funds will support the communities to restock fire departments that used or lost critical equipment in the fight against the wildfires and will provide support for training to better prepare for future events.

Who can apply?
Indigenous governments, municipalities and municipal entities, and regional entities that were directly impacted by the 2025 Manitoba wildfires can apply on behalf of their fire department. Communities who responded by supporting people who evacuated and who supported the impacted communities in their response, with a population of under 5,000 residents, are also invited to apply for funding.

Funding requests must be between $10,000 and $200,000, based on the population size of the community:

  • Communities with a population of 1,999 or less can apply for up to $100,000 in funding.
  • Communities with a population of 2,000 to 5,000 can apply for up to $200,000 in funding

Application Period and Project Timelines

Funding is available for training and equipment purchases made between April 1, 2026, and April 30, 2027. Proposals will be accepted from now until June 30, 2026.

What can this funding support?

The 2025 Manitoba Fire Equipment and Training Fund provides grants to support minor equipment purchases and Wildland firefighter training for fire departments serving First Nations, Métis Settlements, and municipalities impacted by the 2025 Manitoba wildfires. This funding is intended to help fire departments address the needs and gaps identified during the wildfire response, while strengthening their ability to respond to future wildfire events.
